I am glad that many of you (the latest count is 20!) have signed up for the MTAC Sonata/Sonatina Festival in November. You may also like to participate in the following events, especially the recitals, so you can practice performing your chosen piece, and increase your chance of getting a trophy!
TVMTA Fall Recital
What: combined student recital organized by Temecula Valley Music Teachers Association
When and Where: October 13, Temecula United Methodist Church
Cost: $10
Requirement: one or two memorized solos
Who should participate: anyone who wants to perform!
Registration Deadline: September 22
MTAC Halloween Recital
What: combined student recital organized by Music Teachers Association of California Temecula Valley branch – students can dress up in their Halloween costume!
When and Where: October 27, Temecula Public Library (Pauba Road)
Cost: $10
Requirement: one or two memorized solos (does not have to be Halloween related)
Who should participate: anyone who wants to perform!
Registration Deadline: September 22
TVMTA Practice-A-Thon

MTAC Certificate of Merit

When and Where: March 2, 2013, Temecula
Cost: $50 for students up to Level 5, includes all required test music, theory worksheets, and past exam papers. Cost for higher levels are slightly more expensive. Contact me if interested.
Test Requirement: varies according to level – all levels include Theory, Technic, Repertoire, Sight Reading, and Ear Training
Who should participate: students that love a challenge and are willing to put in extra effort. Previous audition experience is preferable but not necessary. Students at level 3 or above need to have minimum of 45 min weekly lessons.
Registration Deadline: September 30
Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program

When and Where: November-December, exact date and location unknown yet, there is another session in June 2013
Cost: $69-$450, depending on level –click here to read official fee schedule
Test Requirement: varies according to level – all levels include Technic, Repertoire, Sight Reading, and Ear Training
Who should participate: As this is a very expensive test, I recommend this only for the very serious students who are committed to a high level of excellence. Previous audition experience is preferable but not necessary. Students need to have minimum of 45 min weekly lessons.
Registration Deadline: September 30
Note: This exam is comparable to the ABRSM, they both have a high standard and are recognized internationally. I am very experienced with the ABRSM exam system, and am excited about the new Achievement Program. If anyone is interested to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact me.
