Piano Notes – Studio Newsletter September 2011
|Welcome Back
September marks the start of the new studio year 2011-2012. I would like to welcome back all of the students!
Temecula Valley Music Teachers Association Fall Recital
This is scheduled for November 5 at the Temecula United Methodist Church. Recital opportunities are always recommended for everyone. Entry fee is $10 per student. Email me if you want to play and I will add the fee to your monthly invoice.
CAPMT Piano and Ensemble Auditions
This annual audition will be held on November 19. Last year four students from the studio participated and were all selected to play in the Southern Festival as part of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers convention. The program provides an opportunity for students in all ages, including college students and adults to perform solo and accompanied music at the Chapter or District level. Students receiving a performance rating of five will be invited (but not required) to perform at the CAPMT Piano and Ensemble Festival, Northern or Southern Division. The Southern Festival is scheduled for Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Whittier College, Whittier, CA. The Northern Festival is scheduled for Saturday, February 18, 2012, at San Mateo Marriott, CA.The entry fee is $30 per student. Interested students may find further details on the CAPMT website. I recommend this program for students who have had experience in piano auditions, and will be committed to rigorous practice routine for the next two months. As each student needs to prepare two solos pieces and one ensemble piece, I need to know who will be participating ASAP (by September 3), so I can team you up with a duet partner. Email me for an entry form if you can not find it on the CAPMT website (as there are several events listed). Students who register for this event should be ready to perform in the TVMTA Fall recital mentioned above.
MTAC Teachers Concert
I will be playing at the Music Teachers Association of California Temecula Valley Teachers Concert at The Merc in Old Town Temecula Theatre on September 18. The program includes solo music, duets, as well as music for flute and piano. Tickets are $11 for adults and $5 for students. I hope to see you there!
