MTAC Sonatina/Sonata Festival 2012

20121214-223818.jpgOn Nov 10, 18 students from our studio participated at the Music Teachers Association of California Temecula Valley Sonata/Sonatina Festival. I am very pleased to announce that everyone scored a minimum rating of 5- or better. This means everyone will be awarded a trophy! There were a total of 45 students that participated from the Temecula Valley area, including flute, violin, and cello students. Every student performed a movement from a Sonatina/Sonata from memory. Our students were among the youngest ones, from age 6. Despite their tender age, their performances were all so polished, professional, and musical. Some of our students performed the highest level pieces heard at this year’s festival.

Congratulations to the following young pianists!

Alexa Willis**, Fallon Mieseler, Catherine Howard, John Howard, Claire Howard*, Maggie Liu*, Maggie Collera, Kaitlyn Hetsko, Ron Lycan*, Thien-Sa Luyen, Emma Erickson*, Hudson Erickson, Hunter Erickson, Jonathan Lee*, Rachel Hong, Anna Stone, Andreas Schaefer, Kanako Suzuki**

This festival is merit-based. It is not a competition. Students can play an elementary level piece, or an advanced piece, and as long as they do a good job, they can earn a good rating and receive a trophy. Everyone performs in recital format. I am very proud of everyone! Thank you all for working so hard for this, and thank you to the parents, too, for supporting the students and helping to supervise the practice at home. Our 100% success rate would not have been possible without your dedication!
