Piano Notes – Studio Newsletter July 2016
|National Piano Guild Auditions
The following students participated in this year’s National Piano Guild Auditions held in San Diego: Jeffrey K, Ally N, Nadia C, Kristen L, Koralynn G, Alexa W, Charys H, Rachel H, Samantha E, Fiona H, Kelly R. I am proud and happy to announce that all received either Superior or Superior Plus rating! They range from Elementary C to Preparatory D (advanced level). Special congratulations to Kelly, who has completed 10 years of Guild auditions! That’s amazing! Guild auditions promote repertoire building, yearly progress, determination and perseverance, and stamina and concentration to memorize and perform a solo-recital-worthy program (students from our studio do a minimum of 10 pieces). I highly recommend it! We have one more student, Cameron C, signed up for this yearly audition in Garden Grove this weekend. Good luck, Cameron!
Student of the Month – Nadia Cioffi
Nadia is 8 years old and will be starting fourth grade in the fall. She is in a dual immersion Spanish program and takes half of her classes in Spanish. She loves to play the piano and enjoys creating her own songs and writing lyrics to sing as well. Nadia belongs to a puppetry club in Riverside and also enjoys painting and writing poetry. She is passionate about fostering puppies and kittens for a local animal rescue shelter and has been helping to care for foster animals for the past two years.
Teacher comment: This has been a fantastic year for Nadia. She participated for the first time in many events: Certificate of Merit, Temecula Music Festival, Royal Conservatory Music Development Program, and National Piano Guild Auditions. In all these adjudicated events, Nadia performed exceptionally well and earned very high ratings. I always enjoy seeing her at her lessons, as she is always well prepared and ready to learn. Next year, she will be able to skip a level and do Level 2 in all the exams. Congratulations, Nadia!
