April/May Schedule
No lesson on April 28
I will be adjudicating for the Romantic Festival of Northern San Diego Music Teachers Association of California on April 28. All lessons on April 28 will be rescheduled on April 29 (Sunday).
April Group Class
We will have a combined group class on April 29 at 1pm. This will be your opportunity to perform your Temecula Festival audition piece or Guild audition program before the test day!
No Lessons on May 9 & 10
I will not be teaching on May 9 and 10. There are five Wednesdays and Thursdays in May, so most of you will not be affected by this; some of you still need make ups from March/April, and I will schedule those on a different day.
Student Activities
TVMTA Spring Recital
Josh Barber, Anna Ingram, Shania Jin, and Nicole Jacob performed on March 17 at Temecula United Methodist Church in the Temecula Valley Music Teachers Association Spring Recital.
Southern California Association of Christian Schools Music Festival
Jeffrey Catibayan participated in the Southern California Association of Christian Schools Music Festival. He tested in the Level 3 Classical Category and received perfect score – Superior rating. Congratulations to Jeffrey!
Steinway Society of Riverside Festival Competition
Congratulations to Andrew Tang, who was awarded $500 Steinway Festival Competition Study Scholarship. Andrew competed in the Junior category and was one of five recipients. The winners recital is on Sunday, May 6 at 2 pm in the Annenberg Theater of the Palm Springs Art Museum. This concert is free and open to the public.
Music Teachers Association of California Certificate of Merit
The following students tested in this year’s Certificate of Merit exam: Fiona Harley (level Prep), Maggie Liu (level 5), Cheryl Tan (level Prep), Chanelle Tan (level Prep), and Charmaine Tan (level Prep). Everyone passed with lots of Excellence. Chanelle and Charmaine scored 100% in their Theory test, and will receive a trophy in addition to the certificate. Fiona did exceedingly well in the performance test and the judge commented that she would be able to skip 2 levels next year. Maggie was selected for Branch Honors Recital (Branch Honors is for Level 3 and above). Congratulations to all!
MTAC Spring Recital
Hailey Wiltse, Kaitlyn Hetsko, Maggie Collera, Jaden Oh, and Cecilia Lopez will participate in the MTAC Spring Recital at the Temecula Public Library on Pauba Road on May 12.
TVMTA Spring Music Festival
The following students will participate in this year’s Temecula Valley Spring Music Festival on May 5: Sophie, Sam, and Thien Sa Luyen, Shania Jin, Fiona Harley, Maggie Liu, Andrew Maravel, Andreas Schaefer, Kaitlyn Hetsko, Cecelia Lopez, Hailey Wiltse, Josh Barber.

Music Bag
