Every student should have a metronome! There are many brands and models to choose from; Seiko is a very reliable brand. I personally do not like the ones that display numbers like a digital watch. My most favorite would be the old fashion kind that has a pendulum that swings from left to right, like the one shown on the right, but it can be pricey and not very convenient to move around. Also, it is more fragile and if you drop it by accident, it is as good as dead! I used to have one and that is what happened and then it was never very accurate after that. Now I use a Seiko digital dial metronome which I have had (shown below) for 4 years, and it still works great!
